It’s been a while, folks. I just realized as I’m writing this that it’s been almost 4 years since I’ve updated this site. Unless you’re coming back from some sort of Rip Van Winkle sleep chamber situation, you know what the world has done for the past few years. And because of that, there really wasn’t much of a chance to design things like fliers and concert posters. And while I’ll bite my tongue about the state of the universe right now (actually I won’t…seriously, wear a mask if you’re going to see live bands inside so these people don’t get sick!), I’m glad to have finally gotten a chance to return to seeing live concerts again. Good lord, I missed that indescribable feeling of communion with a group of folks, all experiencing the same wild energy burst at the same time.
Anyway, all of this to say…I’m back! I’m designing things again! And it feels really nice.

I was lucky enough to pick up a gig from the fine folks over at the Showbox/Marymoor Concerts, and I got to design a poster for the mighty Khruangbin! If you haven’t ever seen them live, they are an absolute force of nature. Maybe one of the tightest bands I’ve ever seen perform, and it is an absolute vibe. As of this writing, they just started their 2022 tour of the USA, so please, make sure to catch them and bring some comfortable shoes to shake your bum bum with. Poster is 4 colors, 18x24, chock full of Khruangbin references and guaranteed to upgrade whatever your boring wall currently looks like. Signed/numbered edition of 100, printed on French Paper Manila Kraft-Tone stock by the best in the biz, the fine folks over at Broken Press in Seattle. I’m really thrilled with how these turned out. I hope you are too, and I hope you might even head over to the shop and cop one!
I’ve also been busy working a lot with my good buddies in Seattle band TRANCES. I used to drum in a band called Ghost Pains with singer/guitarist Mica Crisp and bassist David Martin, and have also shared the stage with those same fellows when I’ve filled in on drums with Black Whales. These guys are some of the nicest folks I’ve met in Seattle, and they’re writing some absolutely ripping new tunes that should hopefully be coming out shortly. For now, I’m making fliers where I can for their shows, and you should make a point to go see ‘em play (July 30 @ Barboza along with Black Whales and F0GG, if you’re keeping track).
Lastly, I’m working on a lot of music. I’m playing bass in an as-of-yet unnamed project with Gabe Carter and Greg Ferguson (formerly of the mighty Seattle band Juno), and working on my own songs as The Royal Firecrackers. So far, I’ve released a couple tunes (an original called “Dark Age”, written during the pandemic in a songwriting class with Buck Meek of Big Thief, as well as a cover of Wire’s “Outdoor Miner”) and am chugging along on finishing my debut LP (American Royal, release date TBD). As is to be expected, I’m letting myself be in charge of the design of The Royal Firecrackers stuff, and I feel like it’s looking pretty alright. Aside from that, I’m just in the thick of raising an almost 6 year old tiny human child named Henry, and I spend most of my time trying to teach him the little that I know about this world and learning so much more about how things work from him. He’s the absolute best and I’m really lucky to know him, much less be his father.
